In order to let children enjoy better educational resources, many families choose to buy school district houses. However, such houses are usually limited in area, especially in the city center, where high housing prices and small space are common problems.

What I want to share today is a case of renovation of a school district house of only 60 ㎡, which not only accommodates three generations living together, but also is not crowded at all. The design is very clever!

On the right side of the entrance door, a top-through shoe cabinet is customized. The middle is empty for easy placement of small objects. The bottom is suspended for storing often worn shoes, and a hidden light strip is embedded, taking into account both beauty and practicality. There is also a hanging shoe changing stool reserved next to it, which makes it easier to enter and leave the house.

The restaurant adopts an integrated design, with booth seats built along the wall, and combined with the upper and lower wooden storage cabinets, every inch of space is fully tapped.

In order to meet the needs of children to practice piano at home, the TV wall specially sets aside a piano area, with a clear space division and a stronger overall sense of hierarchy. In this open space, three generations of a family can communicate, interact, have meals, practice piano and share warm time.

The designer made use of the irregular corner by the window to create a tatami area, which not only solved the problem of temporary accommodation and storage, but also facilitated the elderly to look after their children. Foldable soundproof curtains are installed, which will not affect indoor lighting when folded at ordinary times.

The master bedroom has a small area. By customizing the combination design of bed and wardrobe, it meets the dual needs of sleeping and storage, and improves the space utilization rate. After being connected with the adjacent balcony, a desk is placed, which solves the need of working from home.

The children’s room is dominated by pink and white, and the high-low bed with stable structure is designed. The bed adopts a “box” shape, with cloud-shaped lights, which adds fun and safety.

The lower bed space and stair steps also have storage functions, fully meeting the storage needs. A shelf desk is set by the window, which provides a corner for children to learn and read without wasting any space.

Some non-load-bearing walls were removed from the kitchen and some space was borrowed from the original living room, which doubled the kitchen area. The U-shaped cabinet is customized inside, which separates the dish preparation area from the cooking area, and follows the smooth moving line of “take-wash-cut-fry-serve” to make cooking easier.

The bathroom adopts glass sliding door to realize wet and dry separation, which is convenient for five people to use. Double washing areas are set up, and the toilet area and shower area are also independent, which is convenient for families to wash during morning and evening peak hours without interfering with each other.
