When the plane lands in Kathmandu, we will meet you at the airport and send you to the boutique hotel where you stay to rest and eliminate the fatigue of the journey.

Today, we will take a private helicopter, cross the magnificent mountains, and arrive at the gateway of Mustang-Jomson Town in about 50 minutes. From the air, you can have a panoramic view of the Kaligandaki Valley and the majestic Annapurna Peak, which gave birth to the Mustang civilization. In the afternoon, we will explore the ancient villages and serene temples surrounding Jomsen on foot with a guide.

From here, you will feel the unique temperament of Musitang: due to its geographical isolation, it is deeply influenced by Tibetan culture, dominated by Tibetan Buddhist beliefs, forming a unique features different from other parts of Nepal.

In the evening, we will stay at a boutique hotel run by a local family, which started in 1976, and experience authentic hospitality.

Today, we will take a bus and hike for about 4 hours, go deep into the valley, and visit a village and practice site that still believes in the ancient Yongzhong Bon religion.

Yongzhong Bon religion was the main primitive belief in the Himalayas before the introduction of Tibetan Buddhism, and its history can be traced back to a very long time. Even after Buddhism became the mainstream, Bon culture still survived in a secret place like Musitang, which was a rare opportunity to touch ancient beliefs.

Take a bus to an oasis village on the arid plateau. It is not only a geographical wonder, but also enjoys a high place in the hearts of Hindu and Tibetan Buddhism believers, and is famous for its unique religious rituals aimed at transcending the souls of ancestors.

• View the ancient and wise farming canal irrigation system.

• Visit a Sakya temple built in 1492 and admire the exquisite murals and artifacts treasured inside.

• Visit the palace ruins of the Kagka Dynasty and feel the vicissitudes of history.

Today, we will take a 5-hour bus along the magnificent Kaligandaki Valley to Luomantang, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Musitang. On the way, we will stop to visit:

• A 14 th-century cliff temple with some of the most exquisite Kashmiri-style murals in the Mustang area, which is beautiful.

• Look for fossils of ammonites called “Shaligram” in the riverbed, which are considered sacred by Hindus.

• Enjoy an authentic lunch at a local restaurant.

Luomantang has been the political and cultural center of this land since the establishment of Luo Kingdom in 1380. In the evening, we will stay in a boutique hotel invested and built by the descendants of the last monarch of Luo Kingdom, and feel the continuation of history.

Today, we will explore the surroundings of Luomantang by horseback, looking for those mysterious caves dug on steep cliffs. The origin of these layered caves with different functions (possibly tombs, dwellings or practices) is still a puzzle debated by scholars, adding endless legendary colors to Musitang.

Later, we will also visit a cave temple built in the 12 th century, whose exterior walls are striped in red, white and black, full of mysterious religious symbolism.

Take an hour’s bus to the alpine pasture above 4,000 meters above sea level to visit the last batch of yak herdsmen who stick to the traditional nomadic life. Here, you can get up close and personal with their hard, rustic yet free lifestyle, a quickly disappearing sight in modern society.

In the evening, stroll through the ancient city of Luomantang and visit the ancient palace built in 1441. When the afterglow of the setting sun stains the surrounding mountains with Phnom Penh, you may meet the local elderly who have turned scriptures. You might as well join them kindly and feel the peace brought by faith.

Say goodbye to Mustang, we will fly by helicopter (about 2 hours) over the south wall of Annapurna Mountains, feel the shock of Himalayas again from a unique aerial perspective, and return to Kathmandu.

The afternoon is free time (additional arrangements can be made if you need a guide to explain). It is recommended that you walk to Durbar Square, the heart of Kathmandu, where there are palaces and temples left by several dynasties, full of vivid sense of history.

Today we will travel to the ancient city of Patan, which is known as the “city of art”. There are a large number of Newali-style buildings from the 16 th to 18 th centuries, which are famous for their extremely exquisite wood carvings. We will visit the famous Krishna Temple, Shiva Temple with unique carvings, etc., and feel the peak skills of ancient Nepalese craftsmen. Enjoy lunch at noon at the specialty restaurant next to the square.
